WordPress For Non Profit Charities In Australia

April 12th, 2010 Bounties No comments

As the title says, WordPress for non profits charities in Australia. Most companies worry about not having easy access to a website or blog that they have spent good money on and they can’t get access to it because the webmaster is not available to give them time to set up changes for them.

In just a short space of time I can set up a WordPress blog site for any non profit charity and show them how easy it is to build pages and posts with it. Don’t bother to contact me if you have absolutely no time to learn just the simple basics for being able to write those all important news articles or reports that you want on the Internet.

The cost, it just a little bit of your time to learn how to look after your own blog site. I wont charge any non profit charity a single cent to set up and then be in the background if you need help. The only exception to my rule is multi purpose centres in Australia, they are not non profit by they keep shoveling their money back into community projects, so I will make an exception for any branches that approach me.

How To Get Your Charity Noticed On The Internet

January 8th, 2010 Bounties No comments

How to get your charity business noticed on the Internet is not a simple thing to do. If I had to tell somebody the one most important thing to get your non profit organisation noticed, then my answer would be content. The surfers on the Internet crave information and the more your website or blog site has, then the more valuable your site will be.

Over deliver the information and it will reward you. Put in a good description and make sure you have those all important keywords that relate to your charity business. I have seen far to many charities that have just the basic content and they could have given lots more information. The idea that people will know what you are all about is very bad. You need to put yourself in their shoes and see that somebody that has never heard of you and they will not have the basic information that you all ready have.

Charity companies can spend good money on setting up a site and because they are on a tight budget they all to often fail to put enough content into their website. So if you want to get noticed, tell people as much as you can about your Non Profit Charity. Seek out those valuable keywords and make sure your information is easy to find.

Google Adwords and Google Apps for Non Profits

November 27th, 2009 Bounties 3 comments

Google Adwords for Non Profits in Australia

If you live in Australia and you are a Non Profit Business, you may have visited Google for Non-Profits. When you visited there, if you came to the conclusion that the website is just for America, then you would be wrong. Google Adwords for Non Profits can take up to 6 months to get approval but it is worth the wait.

You will need to have your DGR certificate to prove you are entitled to apply and your ABN as well. Think very carefully about how you layout your application. Don’t have affiliate marketing on your website or use Google Adsense to advertise your business. Not sure about this last one. You can go to the Google Grants forum for more help.

Google Apps for Non Profits.

Google has launched their support for Australia in the area of Google Apps for Non Profits. I support a local branch of Meals on Wheels and they applied for 20 accounts with Google Apps and to their surprise Google came back with 50 accounts for them. Here is a link to UTube on Google Apps. You can set up your company with interactive support between each other. In other words if you are working on a document and another staff member is working on the same document at the same time then your document will update straight away. This is what is known as collaboration. You can even revert back to your original documents if you don’t want what was changed. What does this mean for you, well no more e-mail documents all over the place. It is much easier and faster. There are lots of other things that come with Google Apps, like Google Gmail and Google Videos.

How do you apply for a Non Profit account is easy, there is some confusion on this, when you apply you need to fill out the Education package. It starts out by saying Google Apps for Non Profits but when you click on get started, it says Educational. Just ignore that and fill out the application, you will need your ABN number handy to quote, when filling out the application. You also need to have your own domain name, so you can setup your system for your company.

If you have been keen and setup a Business Account and you installed Postini, uninstall it before applying because postini is not supported in the Non Profit package and they will tell you to uninstall it. A Business Google Apps account costs $50us per person and the Non Profit package is free for up to 3,000 accounts.

If you are having trouble doing all of this you are welcome to contact us and we will help you through the process. There is no charge to any Non Profit Charity company willing to learn how to run their own business online. Google Adwords for Non Profits and Google Apps are free accounts, no strings attached.

Update:

I have just received an update for Non Profits in Australia. here is the extract from the e-mail I received from Google:

Though we have reached out to some Australian organisations as a pilot, we haven’t rolled out the availability of Education Edition to non-profits outside of the US. We are hoping to do so in the future, but need to overcome some obstacles to achieve this.

Lets hope the outcome will be soon, and there is nothing stopping you from using the free online Google tools while you wait.

November 26th, 2009 Bounties No comments

Have you just been through a massive effort trying to build a website using site builder software, only to find that the way the pages are named does not get you very good ranking on the Internet. In the past I have been there and done that.

If you have a charity in Australia and you want help with getting online with good ranking on the Internet, Bounties of Nature can help you out. You need to learn a few basic skills so that your online business will not only rank well on the Internet but will get visitors that you so badly need.

There are lots of websites that boast that they can get you high ranking on the Internet and yet they don’t have any ranking to speak of for themselves. The proof is in the pudding as the old saying goes. try installing a addon to Firefox that will give you some idea of what a website ranks when you load it up.

Alexa Sparky as an addon will let you see at a glance where a website ranks on the Internet. You will be surprised as well as disappointed at your own ranking.

It takes time to get better ranking, Google will not put you high in the search engines until you have proved your worth to them. Yahoo and Bing are even slower to index your pages. I am very pro Google I use all the software that is offered and help out in the Google’s Webmasters Forum.

Now what has all this got to do with Free website. If your charity has tried to build a website and you feel that the system has let you down then take heart and read on.

To get a true free website up and going on the Internet you need a few basic skills. Do you know how to upload a web page to your domain, do you know how to install a blog site, such as this one. Well this is what we are all about. We will happily teach you these skills for free. Companies become Codependent on software that will wave a magic wand and it will all get better. Rubbish, there is only one real answer, get the skills that you need and build your own website.

Any Non Profit Charity that is keen to get these skills is welcome to contact us and we will become your support when you strike problems.

One of the problems of going to forums and asking for help is, they don’t want to keep answering the same old dumb questions over and over and get hostile towards you. I have been on the receiving end of that kind of treatment. People learn in different ways, some can read articles, others prefer to watch videos and some prefer to ring somebody up and talk about it.

So if you want a free website for your business and you are a charity in Australia then the answer is simple, get in touch with Bounties of Nature and we will launch you on a learning curb teaching you how to do it all for free. We do ask for your ABN registration details and no we only help Non Profit Charities that want to help themselves.

Keywords That Matter For Non Profits!

November 23rd, 2009 Bounties No comments

It cannot be emphasized more strongly for those that are just starting out at building websites, what you put into your pages is of prime importance. You need to research the true meaning of the word keywords.

The best keywords for your website are the most important ones for your industry. Pick out 4 or 5 of the best ones you can find and write a page on these topics. You need to think of what people maybe thinking of, try to step back and think of what others are looking for. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is of extreme importance.

Make the text friendly to the user, don’t get bogged down in jargon that people have trouble understanding. If possible have something for free that your readers are in need of.

Look for keyword tools on the Internet, there are heaps of them around. Google Analytics is a very good idea to place their software into the bottom of each page. One of the best online tools is Google Adwords Tool, feed your keywords in and get results that are important to you.

Do a search for keyword clouds, keyword meta tags, keywords in titles. The topic of keywords is enormous and there is a massive amount written on the topic. Even naming your domain with good keywords is another topic in a class of it’s own.

Keywords is not the only factor in getting good ranking, read as much as you can in Googles Webmasters Forum and Googles Webmasters Blog. They both have great information on keywords. No I did not put those last two links pointing just at keywords. The whole of both of these websites have mountains on many different topics.

If you are new to keyword structuring try to think in terms of Domain Name, the URL for your web pages, the keyword description, the keyword meta tags and the keyword content. Don’t ever abuse the use of keywords, like repeating them over and over with no meaning, and putting them into pages with the same colour writing as the pages. These are what is known as black hat techniques and need to be avoided at all cost.

So these are the Keywords that matter for Non Profits and any other kind of website. So do your research and the more you write relevant topics with great keywords, the better you will index in the search engines.
