Bounties of Nature

Importance of keywords in websites and how they can help you. [...]

Bounties of Nature

Bounties of Nature

It cannot be emphasized more strongly for those that are just starting out at building websites, what you put into your pages is of prime importance. You need to research the true meaning of the word keywords.

The best keywords for your website are the most important ones for your industry. Pick out 4 or 5 of the best ones you can find and write a page on these topics. You need to think of what people maybe thinking of, try to step back and think of what others are looking for. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is of extreme importance.

Make the text friendly to the user, don’t get bogged down in jargon that people have trouble understanding. If possible have something for free that your readers are in need of.

Look for keyword tools on the Internet, there are heaps of them around. Google Analytics is a very good idea to place their software into the bottom of each page. One of the best online tools is Google Adwords Tool, feed your keywords in and get results that are important to you.

Do a search for keyword clouds, keyword meta tags, keywords in titles. The topic of keywords is enormous and there is a massive amount written on the topic. Even naming your domain with good keywords is another topic in a class of it’s own.

Keywords is not the only factor in getting good ranking, read as much as you can in Googles Webmasters Forum and Googles Webmasters Blog. They both have great information on keywords. No I did not put those last two links pointing just at keywords. The whole of both of these websites have mountains on many different topics.

If you are new to keyword structuring try to think in terms of Domain Name, the URL for your web pages, the keyword description, the keyword meta tags and the keyword content. Don’t ever abuse the use of keywords, like repeating them over and over with no meaning, and putting them into pages with the same colour writing as the pages. These are what is known as black hat techniques and need to be avoided at all cost.

So these are the Keywords that matter for Non Profits and any other kind of website. So do your research and the more you write relevant topics with great keywords, the better you will index in the search engines.

Bounties of Nature

So you are just starting out building those first few web pages do you use keywords? You think you can type whatever you feel like to attract visitors to your new website. Well if you think this then you are in big trouble, you need to get armed with a few online tools to help you get good keywords for your pages.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool is an extremely useful tool. You put in those valuable words and Google will tell you how popular they are. Having lots of keywords that make actual sense to read makes good content for your web pages. If you repeat keywords over and over not making any sense, then this is one of the ways to get your website banned from the search engines for a long time.

If you are researching any set of keywords, and you want to know what other webmasters are writing on the topic, you can set a Google Alert which will send you snippets of information to your e-mail address. Anything I put into Google Alerts and Google will e-mail me info on that topic.

Another useful tool is Google Trends, it will give you a market graph of the topic you put into it.

If you pay particular attention the next time you use Google Search, in the top left hand corner is the words “Show Options”.Click on it and look down near the bottom you will see a thing called “Wonder Wheel” bring this open and you will soon see variables that can be useful topics or page names. I did a search for Non Profits in Australia.

Use the basic Google search, to see what other websites are interested in the same topic as you. I use Firefox software as a browser because it has some very good Addons, one example is Alexa Addons. There is a lot of controversy as to what websites can give you accurate website ranking. All I know is it gives me consistency with ranking.

Keywords are a big factor in website ranking. I have seen lots of really good websites with very poor keywords. Keywords are not the only factor in getting good ranking, but they help towards the whole equation. These are the keywords that matter for Non Profits.
