Bounties of Nature

So you want to buy a domain name and you live in Australia, buying a domain name in Australia can be a tricky thing to do! Well don’t rush off and buy a domain that has the famous .com.au to identify where your website is from. Buying a domain name, is not so simple to do. If you do want a .com.au then it will cost you double the price of a every day .com domain name, and chances are you will drive traffic away because you have specialized your domain name.

The same goes for .org.au and so on. Why would you want to pay double the price when you can buy a .com and nominate in Google’s Webmasters Tools where your geographical location is at. The website I build all end in .com and yes I always nominate in the search engines where my target area is going to be. This does not drive traffic away, it acts in the opposite way and most of my traffic when I go to review the Googly Analytic data, the vast majority of my traffic is in Australia, just where I want it to be.

So if you go the other way and use that .au ending, it will just put a big hole in your pocket. I prefer to use Godaddy to buy .com domain names from.
