Naming Your Pages Correctly

When building web pages or blog pages for that matter, it is extremely important to name you pages correctly.

If you install WordPress, the default permalink under settings is not set correctly and if you don’t change the setting your pages will end up with horrible numbers that mean nothing to anybody. If you go into the settings/permalinks and put /%category%/%postname%/ instead of what is already in there, then your pages will save with a better title in the address bar.

The same applies when you are going to save a web page, give it a bit of description. Here is an example http://www.bounties-of-nature.com/contact-us.htm you can see the ending has some sort of description, in this case contact us. Yes a bit boring but you can make for it with a good description that explains in plain English what your web page is all about.

One other mistake I see from time to time is that people don’t give a good title to each page, I have even seen them give the same title to every page and then wonder why they are ignored by the search engines.
